The Evanston girls basketball team headed to Star Valley for Regionals uncertain of the future of their season.
The Lady Devils played Green River last night, with the winner advancing to the state tournament and into Friday’s semifinal against Rock Springs.
Evanston beat Green River soundly during both of their conference meetings. The Lady Devils won the two games by an average of 18 points.
“We have to focus on Green River. It’s a one-game season right now,” coach Dave Deru said before the game. “We were in exactly the same situation last year. We had beaten them twice during the season and headed up to Regionals feeling confident after a good week of practice. Last year, we were more evenly matched. We feel good about our chances, but we know if we don’t play our best, they have a chance to beat us.”
