EVANSTON — The Lord’s Storehouse is in desperate need of food donations. The next Boy aScout Food Drive isn’t until Nov. 18, and shelves are already bare at the food bank that now helps some 3,000 people a month in Evanston.

“We’ve added about 50 families this year,” Kay Rossiter said. “I really want to thank the community for keeping us going for 27 years. There’s more need now to help people than ever.”

Volunteers, like Rossiter, run the food bank. Local businesses donate food every month and still there is only a week’s worth of food at the facility.

Every year the Lord’s Storehouse holds a Thanksgiving Dinner for needy citizens and donations for that annual event are already coming in or promised.

“We almost made it,” Rossiter said in connection with the Boy Scout Food Drive. “With the added people that need help, we still almost made it to the next one.”

The Lord’s Storehouse is located in the Trinity Lutheran Church building at 50 Yellow Creek Rd. It can be reached by phone at (307) 444-1313 or by calling the Uinta County Museum at (307) 789-2757.

Hours of operation are from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. daily for those in need.

“We really appreciate everything the community does,” Rossiter said. “We couldn’t operate without them.”
