Annual ‘Angels Among Us’ school supply drive to start July 7

Posted: Friday, Jul 5th, 2013

EVANSTON — Don’t wait until Christmas to give something special to the needy children of our community. Angels Among Us is again sponsoring their annual school supply drive to help the children of our community with school supplies that are needed, but may not be affordable for their families.

Donations are being accepted at collection boxes located at each entrance of Walmart beginning Sunday, July 7, through Monday, Aug. 12. Simply purchase your donations at Walmart and drop them into the collection box for pickup. Angels Among Us will then divide and distribute the school supplies to the schools in Uinta County the week before school starts.

“This is our sixth annual school supply drive,” said Maggie Jones, president of Angels Among Us. “Each year, we are able to provide schools throughout Uinta County with hundreds of dollars in school supplies for children whose families could not afford to provide them.”

Items include backpacks, paper, pens, paint sets, Kleenex, erasers, markers and much more. All donations will be divided among all Uinta County schools and distributed the week of August 19.

“We want to make sure that we get the supplies to the schools before school starts so kids start the school year off right,” Jones said.

Any families that cannot afford to provide supplies required by their children’s schools may visit the school their children attend to obtain the school supplies that have been donated. Those wishing to donate can also make monetary donations by making a deposit into Wells Fargo Account No. 538-2074713. Money that is deposited during the school supply drive will be used for school supplies, as well.

Volunteers from Angels Among Us will purchase items still needed after school supply donations have been received. For more information about the drive, call Maggie at (307) 677-3942.
