Modified: Friday, May 10th, 2013

EVANSTON On May 7 at 10:15 a.m., the Evanston Police Department responded to rumors of a school shooting/bombing at the Evanston High School. The Evanston Police Department responded along with the school district but there was no proof of an actual threat found. Police did a stand-down from the situation at 11:35 a.m.

According to school officials and police, a general threat was found in the boys bathroom at the high school a few days ago.

Evanston Police Chief Jon Kirby told the Evanston City Council members on Tuesday night, during their scheduled meeting, that there were items added to the initial written threat, and that there was not a list of names.

Officers from the Evanston Police Department were dispatched to the high school, but at the time of their arrival, school staff had already checked the area and no credible threat was found.
