EVANSTON — After considerable review, the Wyoming Department of Transportation has decided to remove the traffic signal at the intersection of Wasatch and Harrison in Evanston.
The traffic signal will be replaced with a stop sign controlled intersection for Wasatch Drive. The current overhead street lights will remain to illuminate the intersection.
After analyzing the current and projected traffic and pedestrians volumes, WYDOT has concluded that the traffic light is no longer needed.
“Basically, we looked at many things, from traffic volume, pedestrian volumes, safety, idling delays and even fuel costs of stopping at the light. After taking all this information in, we decided the signal is not warranted. It just comes down to efficiency,” District Traffic Engineer Damon Newsome said.
