EVANSTON — Winter weather got you “chili?” The Evanston Chamber of Commerce will host the seventh annual spring fever “Spice the Ice” Chili Cook Off, to be held on Saturday, Mar. 2, in the Evanston Machine Shop, at 1440 Main Street.
Cooking will begin at 10 a.m., and doors will open to the public for chili tasting and a host of other fun-filled events at 4 p.m.
The event will have room for 20 contestants and booths, with categories for red chili with beans, red chili without beans, and green chile. First, second and third place in each category will be awarded by a committee of select judges, and ballots will be provided to chili tasters for the People’s Choice award. Attendees will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite decorated booth by making a cash donation.
In addition to great chili, the day will also feature a raffle for a chance at some great prizes, photo opportunities, food, as well as beer and spirits of the adult variety. Entertainment will be provided by local band Cold Fusion. Children will be permitted to attend, but will be required to leave by 8 p.m.
For more information or to sign up for a contestant booth, call the chamber office at (307) 783-0370, or log on to www.etownchamber.com. Space for booths is limited and awarded on a first come, first served basis.
