CASPER — The Wyoming Weed and Pest Council held their annual conference and business meeting in Casper Nov. 6-8, and members of Uinta County Weed and Pest District were recognized during the event for their dedication and service to the district and the state, according to a release from the organization.
Verna Cox received recognition for 20 years of service as an employee of the Uinta County Weed and Pest District; Uinta County Board member Richard Zobell received recognition for 25 years of service as a board member; and Allan (Oop) Hansen, Uinta County board chairman, was presented with the Archie Lauer Award.
“The Archie Lauer Award was initiated by the Wyoming Weed and Pest Council in honor of Archie Lauer, a weed and pest supervisor from Niobrara County,” the release said. “Archie knew the importance of having a dedicated weed board, and this award is used to recognize a devoted board member. Allan Hansen of Evanston was selected this year. Oop has served on the board for 22 years, and has been the board chairman for 13 of those years.”
