Indoor fieldhouse moves forward

EVANSTON — The Evanston City Council held a brief special session on Tuesday, April 23, at City Hall. Only two resolutions were on the agenda.

Councilmember Jen Hegeman was absent and excused, but the quorum was enough to move forward.

The first order of business was approving the final site plan for Justin Dennis’ Impact Physical Therapy and indoor turf fieldhouse.

Senior Planner DuWayne Jacobsen reviewed the resolution with Mayor Kent Williams and the council before its approval without further public comment.

Councilmember David Welling said, “It’s a great investment in our community.”

Councilman Jesse Lind addressed Dennis directly saying, “I appreciate the private investment.”

Lastly, Evanston City Attorney Mark Harris requested to revisit and amend a resolution to place the economic development one-half percent sales tax on the 2024 primary election ballot, whereas it was initially drafted to appear on the 2026 general election ballot. The measure was passed unanimously and the meeting was adjourned.
